CLOWN

« The clown is the poet in action. […] Between the world and him rises the laughter […] a silent laugh without mirth as they say. The clown teaches us to laugh at ourselves. And that laughter is given birth by tears. » Henry Miller.
As an innocent and cunning character, the Clown of the Full Moon Circus is subject to persecution from the establishment embodied by Madame Loyale. His working tools (his hands and his face) are the mirrors of his imagination and his soul. The Clown is outside the norm because there can be no clowning if it stays within the norm. His make-up and attitude signal him as the one to bother because he’s bothered.
He pushes back the loving feeling he feels for Anna the beautiful Acrobat under his mask. He admires her youth and her gentleness… until the destiny once again brings down the great red curtain on his plans.
